Heiko is a German and European Patent Attorney. He studied physics at the University of Stuttgart and at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Atlanta, USA). He specialised during his study in condensed matter physics, laser physics and applied and integrated optics/photonics, and during his diploma thesis in physics on photonic crystals. He carried out his diploma thesis at the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) Institute for Technical Physics. He holds a doctoral degree (Dr. rer. nat.) in physics from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich. He worked at the CERN laboratory in Geneva and at the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics in Munich with a focus on laser physics, optics, atomic physics, and electromagnetic particle traps.
In his professional career with more than 12 years of experience in intellectual property he focussed on IP prosecution in the fields of automotive, telecommunications, software, sensor and measurement technology, laser technology, and food processing technology.
Heiko advises on all aspects of intellectual property and has succeeded favourably in several 3rd party proceedings before the European Patent Office and national offices and courts.
